Recording self-tapes can sometimes feel like pressure and become stressful. It can be hard to know how to approach sides/material and hit briefs. There’s interpretation and choices!
It can be frustrating when you need to keep re-recording and then often hard to decide which version(s) to submit to your agent. And then there’s camera technique and other technical elements…
Which is why I set up Tape Club. And here’s what you get:
- Voice recorded performance feedback from me on each tape you submit;
- A monthly online session to share your experience and for accountability (this takes place via Zoom on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:45pm and lasts around one hour);
- Improved rehearsal process;
- Improved acting for camera technique;
- Improved self-tape confidence;
- To discover new material;
- To create online content, which could also be used for showreels on Spotlight;
- Learn from and be inspired by other members;
- Learn to trust your own instincts;
- Learn to make clear acting choices;
- Have the time and space to play and explore, without the pressure of a job!
- A wider industry support network.
STANDARD TAPE CLUB PROCESS
MONTH 1: tape your first reading of the piece to capture your instincts. Submit the tape and you will then receive my voice recorded feedback.
MONTH 2: tape the piece again, this time exploring the notes you were sent. Submit the tape and you will then receive my voice recorded feedback.
MONTH 3: tape the same piece for a final time and submit as a complete performance. You will then receive my voice recorded feedback.
At the start of each three-month cycle choose either the set piece or a piece of your own choice and record/re-record and submit the same piece once per month, progressing over the months through feedback, exploration and practice.
Own-choice pieces can be scenes, monologues, songs, verse or prose. Maximum length 2 minutes.
TAPE CLUB is £15/month for a four-month commitment or £20/month to be able to cancel any time.
