Class content will be a mixture of progressive work with a technical and stylistic focus and stand alone workshop/masterclass sessions with regular faculty and guests.

Designed to enrich your current weekly training you will study the complete range of Musical Theatre genres.

I want young performers and their supportive parents/carers to feel confident in the ever-changing, dynamic and challenging industry.

I want to help young people have a good work ethic, excellent communication skills, know their own worth and that of those around them – develop skills they can take into any career or situation.

We understand the importance of training well in a safe and comfortable environment where individual value, individual feedback and performance mindset is at the heart of the training.

You will be expected to prep but we will endeavour to give you no less than ten days before a session to research and/or learn material as necessary. You can still come to class if you have not done the prep but you will not get as much out of the sessions as you would if you’d have prepped. We fully understand that you may have busy periods with other commitments and will support this.

Under the Direction of the theatre coach you will work with a carefully selected team of industry professionals to find your creativity, voice and path into and through the industry.

ttc:MANCHESTER is for those who are serious about a career on the stage.

the theatre coach approach has proved successful over decades for nurturing young talent, looking after and preparing young people to train hard, play hard, have balance (as a father myself I know how important study, friends and just being a young person is), preparing students for auditions, gaining top level agent representation, riding the highs and lows (it’s not unheard of at all for performers aged 13-16 to not book one professional job in that time), encouraging students to support and celebrate their peers and enjoy the successes as and when they come.

Entry is by audition and progress and work ethic will be closely monitored at all times.

Professional discipline will be expected at all times.

You will not be lost in a crowd or group.

You will be celebrated for your uniqueness.

Having worked on Billy Elliot and School of Rock in the West End I saw how parents/carers were so often kept at arm’s length from the work that was going on. Another thing about training with me is that I have time for the parents – without whom there would be no shows such as the ones I worked on, not to mention all of the others (Annie, Mrs Doubtfire, Joseph, Chitty, Mary Poppins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory….the list goes on).

This training is for people who want to get to or stay at the top of their game. We all have strengths and weaknesses and an open mindset to keep learning and growing is essential.

We all excel in different things and at different times and this will be taken into account, but what I will say is that this training will not be for everybody. It takes a certain type to be able to prep confidently and hit the ground running from one month to the next.
